GPS4Kids History
On Wednesday November 11th, over 150 people gathered at the Westchester Marriott Hotel for the GPS4Kids Forum, to create a shared agenda and collective action plan to improve the lives of children, youth and young adults in Westchester County. The exciting and interactive day included numerous rounds of small group discussions, reflection, feedback, and digital voting with instant results ending with a shared vision for Westchester’s Kids.
Participants represented all areas of the County, a diversity of races and ethnicities, a range of ages, and sectors such as government, non-profits, schools, businesses, parents and youth-- nearly 30% of attendees were young people under the age of 24!
Participants at the Forum discussed the ways that GPS4Kids will improve the lives of children, youth and young adults, and agreed to focus on the following three aspirational goals:
-
Strengthening youth-adult relationships and family supports
-
Creating opportunities for children to thrive regardless of race or zip code
-
Fostering social and emotional well-being through healthy peer relationships, preventive services, and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse
